#DIGIN Community Event with Yale School of Medicine & Patient Revolution

October 8, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

This year, Yale School of Medicine was awarded the Heart to Heart Grant to fund the #DIGIN project, which engages women in a series of peer group events providing them with a space to discuss their cardiovascular health and gathering data that will be used to design decision aids to be used in the clinical setting for preventative treatment for heart disease and stroke.

On Monday, October 8, the first community event will be held from 6:00-7:30PM at DePaul’s Levan Center, at 2322 N Kenmore Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614 (Get Directions).

At this event you will not only participate in facilitated small group discussions centered around women’s cardiac health, but you will also get the chance to meet the doctors from Yale and provide feedback on how to shape the peer group events going forward. Not often do Alpha Phis get the unique opportunity to experience the Heart to Heart Grant  funded work so directly and influence the impact of this project on women everywhere, so we are elated by this opportunity for engagement!

We are looking for women who identify with one or more of the following statements:

  • I am concerned and/or am actively trying to lower my risk for heart disease.
  • I have risk factors for heart disease (hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, family history of heart disease in a first degree relative under the age of 60).
  • I have an established cardiovascular disease (heart disease or stroke).

All women are welcome, so please bring friends or family members who identify with this as well!
