Promoting Awareness and Safe Socializing with the Beta Chapter

by Katie Gates in Impact

Alpha Phi Foundation is thrilled to announce the recipient of the 2022 Susan Weiskittle Barrick Endowment for Leadership Enrichment Grant: Beta (Northwestern)!

The Beta chapter will use the $5,000 grant to host programs to promote awareness about sexual harassment, drug and alcohol abuse, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. These events will be open to members of the Beta chapter, the Greek community, and the general student body at Northwestern University.

With sexual assault and harassment emerging as a prominent issue on their campus, the Beta chapter seeks to benefit their entire campus community through several remote speaker events.  “Our chapter wants to address these issues not only within Greek Life but with the entire student body at Northwestern to educate and prevent [this] from happening again, whether that is on or off-campus,” shares Alexis Nardicchio (Beta–Northwestern), Chapter President.

Since the establishment of the Susan Weiskittle Barrick Endowment for Leadership Enrichment in 2012, it has supported leadership programming for Alpha Phis at the alumnae and collegiate levels. In recent years, these grants have provided unique leadership development opportunities, specifically, for newer collegiate chapters of Alpha Phi. We are grateful to Susan for making this important programming possible.
